"In the engine compartment I installed a new starter, chrome alternator, line locks, 4-core radiator, water pump, thermostat, all hoses and belts. I had the engine rebuilt and installed a Crower cam. The engine was bored to 440 CL. At this time we replaced the harmonic balancer, the flywheel and the bell housing. We installed a four speed transmission, which was completely rebuilt, a new racing clutch and 411 gears with a Detroit locker posi-traction rear-end.

There are about 10,000 miles on the new engine and trans.”

This 1967 Ford Galaxie XL Fastback is a very powerful car with a 4 speed manual transmission. When you sit behind the wheel and start it up, it roars to life and you know the second you shift into first, and release the clutch, this babies gonna fly.

It has been to car shows and the Electric Red paint looks outstanding. The engine has lots of chrome starting with the Edlebrock valve covers, and the Holley carburetor, even the fan on the radiator is chrome, as well as, the alternator. This engine is ready to go. You will also see in the pictures that this car has a battery kill switch that not only acts as security, but keeps the battery fresh when the car is not in use.

This car shows the original touches like the Ford windshield washer fluid bag in the engine. The owner has the paperwork for items bought and researched whatever the car needed to keep it as original as possible. The owner is including any extra parts, or changed out parts with the car. He even has the empty Holley box showing the date it was installed.

History

The Ford Galaxie was the primary full-sized model of automobile built in the United States by the Ford Motor Company for model years 1959 through 1974. A version of the car was produced in Brazil under the names Galaxie 500, LTD and Landau from 1968 to 1982. As often is the case with American cars, the model names shifted around from year to year, but the Galaxie was always Ford's full-size car. In the late 1960s, the low trim Fords would be the Ford Custom 500, while the high end would be the XL and LTD, but the Galaxie was normally the high volume counterpart to the Chevrolet Impala.

Some Galaxies were high-performance, racing specification machines, a larger forebear to the muscle car era. Others were plain, family sedans.

In 1967 Ford used virtually the same body lines as the 1966. The new 1967 look was distinguishing from the previous year. Ford moved the turn signal lamps from the grill to the bumper as well as all new molding and ornamentation. Modifications to the styling included adding a major bend in the center of the grille, and making the model less "boxy" than the 1966 model. The XL model no longer carried the "Galaxie 500" designation.Ford continued the 7 Liter model for 1967 which would be the last year of this special performance model. Ford increased the safety features for 1967 with a large list of improvements.

The 7 Liter 428 engine configuration is the one you will find on this vehicle. Available transmission types were the three speed manual on the column, 4 speed manual shifter on the floor, and Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic three speed automatic. The 1967 offered 15 Diamond Lustre Enamel paints colors, and 25 two tone combinations in addition to 52 Ford upholstery choices. These big Fords were built Ford tough and designed to withstand the harsh conditions of any road. These also made a place in the heart of Ford performance enthusiasts with the many performance offerings.

Condition Notes:

Interior: The interior is in outstanding condition (as shown in photos). The drivers side door has a little spot that is hardly noticeable in the bottom left panel. The seats are in great shape and carpeting is also unmarred.

Exterior: The exterior like the interior is in terrific shape, with only a minor nick on the passenger door where another careless driver opened their car door into the paint. You will see in the gallery that additional touch up paint comes with this vehicle that can be used for touch-up, and will match existing paint.

Mechanically: The current owner took good care of this engine and it shows a lot of chrome he has added: Holley Carb, Edlebrock valve covers, power disconnect switch on the battery, etc. This is one powerful engine, and clean.
